Local Sourcing
We are committed to using 100% British beef, chicken, pork, cheese and eggs in Ginsters products.
Beyond this, we have a policy of sourcing from local farms wherever possible. 70% of our fresh vegetables come from Hay Farms in Cornwall, and in a typical week we will use over 100 tonnes of locally grown vegetables. Our vegetables are delivered daily, fresh from the farm.
70% of our fresh beef is supplied by Jaspers of Treburley, Cornwall, just a short drive from our bakery.
Davidstow Creamery in Cornwall provides us with full-flavoured cheeses, including their famous Davidstow Mature Cheddar.
Over recent years we have been working with local farms to grow wheat for some of our flour – so that our pastry also has that extra touch of local flavour.
By working with local farms we can keep a close eye on the quality of our fresh ingredients, and visit the farms regularly to see the crops being grown.
In addition, by sourcing our key ingredients locally in this way, we save 240,000 food miles each year.
